How long does it take to get traffic?
Assuming that you build a niche site and submit it to a few hundred directories, how long does it take to get some traffic? Also how long and how many links, ect. does it take to get past PR0?

Re: How long does it take to get traffic?
Depends on competition of course.
There's no real answers to any of your questions. They all just "depend" on various factors. Google brad callen's SEO made easy guide. That's a good primer for some of your questions. Don't purchase the product seo elite which the book is pushing. It's a good product I have it, but everything you need can be done by hand. Actually i'll just get a link... https://best1-host.com/seoeasy.pdf Cheers, Josh |

PR only updates 3-4 times per year.
95% of those directories are crap and will never send you any traffic. |

Yes directories arn't for traffic, generally they're just for obtaining good pr backlinks.

Re: How long does it take to get traffic?
I started a fantasy baseball blog about 6 weeks ago, and am averaging about 300 visitors per day. Most of the traffic comes from link swapping with other fantasy baseball blogs - I emailed a bunch of them asking if they wanted to swap links and most said yes. One in particular that gets a lot of traffic is still responsible for around 25% of my traffic...and that's just those coming directly from his site, not those who now type in my URL directly. The other big source of traffic was when I started using the 'label' field in Blogger...suddenly started getting lots of google traffic. Particularly when I posted about somewhat obscure players who haven't gotten a lot of press yet.

[/ QUOTE ] When you create a new post there will be a small text box below the main one that is for "labels." Simply type in whatever is relevent and separate each label by a comma. For example, on my last blog post my labels look like this: poker, hold'em, multi-tabling, results, bad beat, 24. Basically in the post I commented on my reults for the day, the fact I was playing more tables than usual, some bad beats, and made a comment about 24. I actually didn't start the using the labels until this thread. But they definitely do work. My blog has only been up for a few days, and ahd no other visitors other than me. After I started the labels earlier today, about 10 random people have visited the site. Definitely recommended for a start-up blog. |

Re: How long does it take to get traffic?
Addition to something I said - much better than swapping links is swapping references (with links) to eachother in posts, or swapping guest articles.
Also, I didn't even know to use commas in the labels field. |

Also, I didn't even know to use commas in the labels field. [/ QUOTE ] I guess it might work without commas. I just did it automatically with commas and that workd perfectly. |
