Re: Most famous music artist of all time?
1. Michael Jackson
2. The Beatles 3. Elvis 10-15 years from now, MJ will probably still be #1, but the other 2 might be way farther down the list. |

Re: Most famous music artist of all time?
If you are looking at Modern (last 50-60) years, then Bob Dylan has had the most impact of any on your list. That is, if you are looking at the influence the specific artist had on music as a whole.
The Beatles and Elvis would have to be 2 and 3, respectively. Chuck Berry could also be in the top 3, if not 1. It's all a matter of perspective. He is considered the father of rock and roll by many. I love Cash, but I am not sure his legacy is as influential as the others. Seeing this list makes me realize how most of today's popular music sucks. |

Re: Most famous music artist of all time?
I guess Eminem hasn't released anything for a little while but he was/is as big as Madonna/Rolling Stones, etc. He's controversial, his music transcends racial boundaries and he's got worldwide appeal. Can't believe I'm the first to mention him.
I'm not saying he's #1 over Beatles/Elvis/Michael Jackson, but he's in the discussion. |

Well, technically, The King who wrote Greensleeves was probably more influential than The "King" who wrote Blue Suede Shoes. But did he or didn't he...

Re: Most famous music artist of all time?
no love for pink floyd? for utter theatrical performance they changed a lot
anyway, does the influence of music really only go back 100 years? i dont have a great knowledge of classic music but i think we are talking far too short term, unless you are talking famous modern musician |
