la, Wow, I am surprised that you call this borderline. Golddigger is most definitely not an ethnic slur at all. [/ QUOTE ] i didn't say it was. and as i said that's not the real issue. when i read the thread title i immediately knew that the "ethnic" group involved would be jews. i am smart and not pc. therefore, there is something to it. in conclusion, everyone involved acted like idiots. |

Another letter writer, this one from New York City, had objected to the magazine's use of "spicing" in an article about second-generation Hispanics ("spicing their language with a little Spanish is the easiest way of being cool"). The word "spicing" was hyphenated at the end of a line, perhaps adding to the confusion. [/ QUOTE ] That is hilarious. |

duck, If you're going to make it as an ACLU lawyer, you'll have to learn to side with these idiots. [/ QUOTE ] which is why the ACLU has spent time defending nazis and KKK members' right to free speech, right? duck, if someone is determined to be offended by something, there is no way you can stop them. so either tell them to [censored] off or ignore it because you can't argue with idiots of this variety. |

Goldigger is not an ethnic slur. Some people just want to be victims.

Would "Golddigga" have been acceptable? [/ QUOTE ] I think in the future, you should probably just say, "the G word". |

when i read the title i thought there's no way that could possibly be an ethnic slur, and it clearly wasn't meant to be, but in this case it could possibly be considered borderline. there's a huge history of anti-semitism along the lines of "jews are cheap, will do anything for cash, etc.", so changing an obviously jewish name to a derogatory term for only caring about money is getting into dangerous territory. in other words, everybody's going way overboard but still, adam does have a point.
