Re: Aces vs aces vs two others $10/$20 all-in preflop- get away from it?
[ QUOTE ]
I put 400 into Party last night, spun up to $2650 on $2/$4, tilted off $600, then moved up to $10/$20 and lost this monster. Biggest hand I've been in for a long time. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah and he got almost 4/1 on his money. I don't really understand why he's such a favourite pre-flop, though. Of the four players in the hand he's the only one who could play for a low straight, but some of these outs are gone since we have the aces. He has two outs to hit a set which of course we don't have, but he doesn't have any flush outs. So why is he such a favourite? [/ QUOTE ] i think because of a few things. (kick me if i'm wrong) - He has all live cards (he's lucky there) - Playing for the lo straight - Other three players are sharing a lot of cards with each other. So the outs they needed were in their opponents hands allready. So he "gambled" on his live lo cards and this time he became the lucky winner. Happens all the time in omaha hi. What can be said about this hand: There was a lot of money in the middle preflop... |

Re: Aces vs aces vs two others $10/$20 all-in preflop- get away from i
There is way too much dead money to fold here with your side cards and how much you have left in your stack. If you made a mistake, it was putting in the second raise. I don't know how the game was playing and how lightly people were 3 betting and 4 betting pre flop, but I would have to expect to get it all in pre against a worse hand to put in the second raise there.
LOL at anyone who seriously thinks either of the other hands were making a mistake (well, the guy who called the 240 then folded pre probably did). |

Re: Aces vs aces vs two others $10/$20 all-in preflop- get away from it?
Obviously I didn't fold the hand, I put my money in, and I lost it all. I really was expecting it would go heads up, or three way with the short-stack pushing. In that situation even if I lost the main pot I'd have a side pot with the other guy with aces, and I could hope mine would be stronger than his. (I'd liked to have flopped three hearts, or KK9, or even to have caught that goddamn Jack).
I do think when you're playing deep enough there should be situations when you can lay down aces in a multi-way pot once you realise another player has aces too. I had less than a buy-in for this game, so I can see it wasn't a big mistake to get it in pre-flop here. The mistake was for me to be on such a big table in the first place, quickly turning my spin-up into a spin-down!
