PokerStars New Sunday Million Structure

Hello 2+2,
I’m writing to let everyone know that PokerStars has completed our review of the Sunday Million structure, which was inspired in large part by Nath’s post from March 11 and the positive feedback for his ideas.

After careful study of many factors, we’ve decided to implement significant changes to the structure. We’re not using the exact structure proposed by Nath, but we are using many of his ideas.



Highlights include the following:

• Antes are now 10% of the big blind for most levels (twice as much as before.)
• Level 9 changed from 600/1200/60 to 500/1000/75
• Level 10 changed from 800/1600/80 to 600/1200/100
• Similar slowing of the blinds throughout the tournament, so even though the antes are bigger one still has more ‘play’ than with the previous structure.

We realize there was much support for implementing Nath’s proposal in whole, but detailed analysis has led us to conclude that it would slow the game too much. We’re all for providing as much play as practical, but most of our customers don’t want a tournament (even the Sunday Million) to take 13+ hours to complete. We feel the structure that we’ve settled on provides the right mix of these two goals.

The new structure is in place starting with the April 1st Sunday Million. Please review it either in the tournament lobby (T# 46089592) or here, and by all means… share your feedback. As I hope this shows, PokerStars takes player feedback very seriously. We strive to always improve and to provide the absolute best online poker experience.

This is a great step forward. I'd still like to see antes start earlier, and a 75/150 level, but I can't complain at all with what you've done. I think you'll find the structure will be very well received.

It's very nice to see something like this get done. Hopefully they will look into slowing down their regular MTT's just a tad as well.
