I just felt he was trying to push me out of the pot,but I couldn't justify calling such a big portion of my stack off.

i fold preflop depending on my own image. often if i miss the flop with a possible position-caller i tend to check raise and show monster streanght since i almost get a bet from air here.

This was a $5 MTT with about 2000 starters.

I'm suprised you're suggesting fold pre flop,I'm well into Harringtons yellow zone now,and thought I should be more aggressive now with such hands,I think there's even an AT UTG example in HOH Vol 2 in a very similar situation.
