Default Poker Room Rate Requirements

I have a few questions I couldn’t find answers for from the search feature.

1) Does everyone staying in the room have to meet the hourly requirement in order to get the poker room rate? Or is it just one person?

2) If it has to be everyone, than if we made reservations under two people’s names and had four people stay in the room would that be a problem?

3) Can a poker room rate “card” (that you get filled out to prove you played x hours) be used by more than one person to fulfill an hourly obligation? Like I’d play the requirement Monday and then my friend plays the required hours Tuesday, while I go check out another poker room. I wouldn’t think that they’d check ID or anything.

4) I read one post where someone said that the hourly requirement does not need to be hit daily, but over the average of all the days. Is this true with most casinos?

5) Could I book a room at the poker room rate and then pay regular rate instead on certain days? Like on the Wednesday I plan to fly in, the regular room rate is $71 while the poker room rate is $39-79, I might just want to pay the regular rate instead to lower my hourly obligation, if possible.

6) How soon in advance should you book your room in order to best ensure getting the poker room rate?

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, thanks in advance for any and all answers.

Best bet is to call your hotel during non peak times and ask the poker room these questions. I did exactly that for the MGM for my upcoming trip and got the answers below (keep in mind these may be different at your hotel):

[/ QUOTE ]
It's an average for the people staying in the room. My brother and I will both be on the room, so between us we need to play 4 hours/day.

This is how it was explained to me by MGM's Poker room.

No insight here, sorry.

If you know your dates you can always call up the poker room and book a room. There's usually no penalty for cancellation as long as you do it more than 48 hours in advance - this obviously varies.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, thanks in advance for any and all answers.

In closing - call the room during off hours. Ask for the details of the poker rate and whether it's available during the dates you're interested in.

Hope that helps.

[/ QUOTE ]

Only 1 player has to meet the hours requirement. Some rooms allow you to split between multiple players (so if 8hrs/day/room two of you could play for 4hrs each). Call the room you want to stay at for their policy.

2) If it has to be everyone, than if we made reservations under two people’s names and had four people stay in the room would that be a problem?

[/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't have to be everyone. I would only make reservation under one name and get multiple keys - they may charge you more if you tell them 4 people are staying in room, but won't hassle you about it unless you are causing problems.

As stated above, varies by room. Check with poker room before making reservations.

This has been true at all the rooms I have stayed at.

[/ QUOTE ]

Probably, but I would verify with the poker room before I booked.

6) How soon in advance should you book your room in order to best ensure getting the poker room rate?

[/ QUOTE ]

Sooner is usually better. Most poker rooms have a limited number of rooms they can book each day at the poker rate, and once they are gone you are SOL. More important to book early for very busy times (holidays, conventions, etc.) than slow periods.

Have fun.
