No love for Delassandros? I haven't been there in a while, but I really liked the one I got there.

I've never heard of that place. Where is it?

Delassandro's is on Ridge Ave in Roxborough. Very friendly people and solid steak.

Jim's is on South St. and gets a huge tourist crowd. Some people swear by it. I say meh. Homer is right on about the rolls. They made the sandwich.

There are at least 5 Jim's locations in and around the city, including the one on South Street. Jim's is my favorite, but I like the one in the Media/Springfield area better than the one on South Street.

I've heard good things about Delassandro's but never tried them.

I've only had Tony Luke's at the ballpark, but that's not bad. I like their provolone way better than their whiz though, while I prefer whiz for most others.

If you get a chance, stop by their shop on Oregon on your way to a game. Pork and Chicken Cutlets are awesome. There is also Tony Luke Jr's in Center City (on 17th I think) that is pretty much the same.

Oddly enough I'm a Bears fan and a Phillies fan. But I've only been to Chicago 3 times. I live two hours north of Philly so I've been there much more and I pass through there on my way to AC.

Mama's Cheesesteaks in Bala Cynwyd FTW

I agree that the roll is really what makes a good cheesesteak, that and getting Wiz, not American - provolone works for certain steaks, but mostly I just go with Wiz.

Anyway, I prefer the Jim's on South, it's great for those 3 AM feedings after you've been out drinking all night at the Dickens Inn or someplace close by.
