river raise from passive / weak opp.
Button had been hyper agg pre flop from the button all night. Whether is was folded to him or limped to him Button loved raising on the button, any chance he got he took it. A lot of the time with less than average hands.
MP1 had been like a ghost all night. I Had been playing with MP1 for a few hours and had never seen him raise before the flop, or take the lead in any major pots. Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, Button raises, Hero calls, BB calls, MP1 calls. Flop: (8 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero checks, BB checks, MP1 checks, Button checks. Would anyone lead here? i felt this was really a c/f situation. any thoughts? Turn: (4 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero bets, BB folds, MP1 calls, Button folds. After the flop i concluded that there was a good chance i had the best hand, so i lead. I felt betting was correct givin the previous betting round the fact that a good card came, at least it was a good card IMO. any thoughts? would anyone check here? My problem now is that ive been called my a super tight player. River: (6 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, MP1 raises, Hero? My instinct on the river was b/f. Not to sure though, does anyone thinnk i played this hand goofy? I mean, what can i really beat? If I do have the best hand isent it just to likely MP1 was on a draw and missed so i wont get payed off anyway? anyone think this is a c/f situation? is there any point in betting the river, should i just assume im beat? |

Re: river raise from passive / weak opp.
I would fold with the read on him that you have pretty quickly. That said, I'm not sure there's any value in a bet.

Re: river raise from passive / weak opp.
On the flop, I check intending to raise a bet from the button. If he's really agro, I'd expect him to bet and let me protect my hand.
As played on the turn, I bet. As played on the river, if this is the kind of guy who will call down with any pocket pair, I like a bet/fold. Otherwise, I'd probably check/call cause I hate folding. |

With your read this looks like a very very easy fold.

[/ QUOTE ] You have second-pair-top-kicker against, in order of position, a blind hand, a deaf-mute, and a super-aggro button player. Your hand is good a majority of the time, so check/folding is bad. That said, check/raising a probable button bet is better than leading. On the river, your hand is demonstrably weaker; you lose to Jx, 9x, and KQ/87 in addition to anything you might have been behind to on the flop. I like check/call more than betting, but if you bet this is a pretty textbook bet/fold. What do you think you're beating? |

Re: river raise from passive / weak opp.
Yeah, they're rare, but I sometimes play against players who'll call down here with an underpair.
