Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl 200bb deep
This hand happened against villain who runs 55/15/1.5. Him and I have been going at it, and he can play quite trickily post flop. Villain thinks he's very good and loves to bluff me out of pots and then show it.
In retrospect I would have bet 3/4 pot on the flop. However, I was wondering what you would do if you faced a raised from the villain, and how to continue the rest of the hand. Absolute Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $1/$2 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $19.80 Villain: $398 CO: $222.60 Hero: $436.70 SB: $95.50 BB: $541 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, CO calls, Hero raises to $10, SB folds, BB calls, UTG+1 calls, CO calls. Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($41, 4 players) BB checks, Villain checks, CO checks, Hero bets $20, BB folds, Villain raises to $108, CO folds, Hero ? |

Re: Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl very deep
i doubt he puts u on KK and doesn't limp with TT, so if he had a flush is he really raising u 5x?? bet more on flop, he might have thought you were weak and I wouldn't be surprised if he had the naked As here...
EDIT: calling is meh and i don't see a fold to a huge bet here...i doubt he has u overset, so we do have outs if he has a small flush... |

Re: Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl very deep
So do you reraise to commit yourself to push the turn if a non spade card hits? And would you call a shove on the flop if he comes over your reraise?

Re: Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl very deep
a non spade comes, i'm shoving this, a 55/15 could just be making this play with the A, especially if he likes to bluff, show them, and play tricky...even if he has a smaller flush and we misinterpreted his big raise as a protection raise rather than the naked As, we still have outs here...

I shove here. You aren't deep at all.

Re: Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl very deep
Thanks for the thoughts guys. Just making sure my play wasn't retarded. The results are below, if you're interested.
Hero raises all-in $426.7, UTG+1 calls all-in $280. Uncalled bets: $38.7 returned to Hero. Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($817, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $817) River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($817, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $817) Results: Final pot: $817 UTG+1 Shows 3s 8s Hero Shows 5c 5d Oh well. On a side note, I was just wondering how deep effective stacks have to be when we start considering taking a different line here? (300bb? 400bb?) |

Re: Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl 200bb deep
well, you posted the results, but he has a flush here like every time fwiw.
sometimes the As with a pair or just a naked As. ( w/ no history, i wouldn't be too eager to give him credit for these hands.) |

Re: Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl very deep
This is exactly why you want to shove the flop since your equity is highest.
350bb and above I call the raise and would fold to a shove or even perhaps a PSB on the turn. If he gets stupid with his bets on the turn in that case, I'd call on the turn. In short, it depends on the bet sizes if you were deep, but obviously I'm not going to shove this if effective stacks are 350bb+. |

Re: Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl very deep
i had pushed there. he could had a low flush, AT, AX spade, AQo with a spade..........
a bigger raise PF i think it could be better. since villain call you (and he call a large range), CO will call you with any two by great odds. not a good spot with 55. and you r right, tahat flop bet should be higher. |

Re: Set on a three flush board, 1-2nl very deep
I don't know kermit.
I think that after my weakish flop bet, he could be raising big with As with a pair or a naked As a large percentage of the time. Although in this case he was protecting his baby flush, I could see a lot of players perhaps trying to protect perhaps even a two pair here in this case, because I projected a lot of weakness. After a lot of thought, I agree with MasterLJ, and I don't think that we run into flushes here all the time. |
