Re: QTs in BB, SB pushes
[ QUOTE ]
I called. I need to win 45% of the time for it to be cEV+. I figured villain probably doesn't push real strong hands, so I am probably flipping against an underpair, Ax, or Kx. Villain could be ahead with broadway cards or behind with a suited connector/gapper or semijunk. I think I may be ahead of villain's range. Maybe because of the tournament situation I shouldn't gamble. Does doubling up less than double my $EV? I know Sklansky might not approve. Of course, if I win the coin flip, it puts me in 2nd or 3rd place in the tournament, and I have a good chance to win the thing. Re: QTs in BB, SB pushes
[ QUOTE ]
Mathematics of Poker's Jam or Fold table indicates this is a pretty clear call with QTs, Calling is appropriate up to 24BB stack size. . . . Its a +EV call, although your seat and your skill might push this into a fold even then, because it is awefully close, and if you lose your done. [/ QUOTE ] The Mathematics Of Poker jam/call tables do not take into account tournament dynamics and payouts. A full ICM calculation is needed to resolve this question (requiring stack sizes and payouts), although I strongly suspect that it is a fold. |

Re: QTs in BB, SB pushes
Even with a slightly average to loose range you are going in behind. This is very close with KQs, but I think QTs is too far behind to justify calling. I really don't think his range is that wide. He has to be doing this with 50% of the hands to even make an argument about what to do, but anything tighter than that and you're going in as the underdog.

Re: QTs in BB, SB pushes
I think you were lucky you were in as good as shape as you were v. his K7, but I really don't think his range is near wide enough to call off 15bbs.
