Re: late 20/180 can you find this fold?
no you are missing the point
the point is, my read was correct, i basically knew he had a big Ace and I would be around 60/40 or 70/30 to double up my question is, is it correct to take this 60/40 or even 70/30 for ALL my chips at this point, in this particular situation - 40 left, i am 2nd or third in chips, blinds are NOT a threat.... Is this hand necessary to my survival in this tournament? The winner is the one who is left at the end. This is not a ring game. My money was gone when i signed up. Chips are not money. They are only important in how they help me survive. So again, my question, is this hand really neccessary to my surviving (winning) this tournament? I think it is very debateable. I apologise if this sounded like a bad beat story. It is not, 60/40 is hardly a bad beat. |

Re: late 20/180 can you find this fold?
You should take 60/40 flips for all your chips at EVERY stage of the tournament.
No one that has ever played tournament poker has enough edge to pass up 60/40 flips, imho. |

to clarify, if you really are against taking the "risk" (which you shouldnt be) 40 left is too early to pass this up.

Re: late 20/180 can you find this fold?
ok, ty for the replys - I recall reading the same from Greg Raymer saying one should take 60/40 flips when offered.
It still feels wrong to me though, just didnt feel like a good spot. I think if I was playing better I could have found the fold. My reads were good, but of course there was also a chance he could have had AA or KK. When I min raised from button I was hoping for a reraise from the big blind, who had around 2k in chips, or a call/small reraise from SB. I definitely did not want a 6k reraise from big stack. |

(contradiction?) 2. forget what it feels like, it's right 3. if you were playing better (slowly but surely) you would call everytime. read more threads, and the old ones too. in terms of these 3 things, as you read you will see 1) you have to make your read and play with your read, don't change your mind (inherantly getting better with your reads is important). with 2) the better you get the more "right" this push will feel, and 3) you will learn to write these types of lines (in bold)sarcasticly |

Re: late 20/180 can you find this fold?
If this was a satellite with 18 seats, i.e. 18th place was the equivalent of 1st place - folding would be correct given your chip position.
As it is, in these 180's 18th - 9th is money back, and the pay only becomes worthwile for top 3. Therefore, even if he typed "I have AK hearts" in the chat box and you were certain it was true you should call. I would rather have 22000 chips half the time with 39 left than 10600 every time tbh. The one out of two times you win the race you will have a way above average chance of winning. Oh and, it isn't a 60 / 40. Closer than that. Good luck. |
