Dealers playing in their place of work
I know this might be dumb, but I need some help.
I am 100% sure that dealers are not allowed to play any games in their place of work when they are off, but I've been challenged by someone who said it is not true, and it is only casino specific. I am wondering if that is a law that is legislated by the government, or it is merely an unwritten law that casinos abide by. If anyone has any links to legislation, that would be great, since I haven't been successful in my search. Thanks. |

Re: Dealers playing in their place of work
Poker dealers play ALL the time in Vegas poker rooms.
I think A.C. casinos may have a rule against it but I see it everyday in Vegas. |

Re: Dealers playing in their place of work
Same with NorCal dealers, floormen, and even the tournament director.

Re: Dealers playing in their place of work
It all depends on where you are. Some states allow it and some don't. In Mississippi dealers can play on or off the clock. In Atlantic City dealers can't play where they work at all.

Re: Dealers playing in their place of work
Casino regulations vary from state to state, where casino's are permitted. Therefore any regulations would vary from state to state. I have seen dealers play in their casino in Miss, and Vegas. Don't know about other locales.

Re: Dealers playing in their place of work
Casinos in LA keep dealers playing on the clock when they are slow.

Re: Dealers playing in their place of work
I guess it is a state by state regulation then.
Thanks all! |

Re: Dealers playing in their place of work
In somw LA clubs if the dealers didn't play the games would be a lot worse.

I guess it is a state by state regulation then. [/ QUOTE ] It's an absolute no-no in AC as mentioned, but sometimes you can play at a different property owned by the same company. Harrah's Entertainment allows for it, dunno about Hilton/Resorts or the Trump properties. I'd heard that sometimes dealers sit in to fill seats in their own casino in other locations. I think that's bad form, these people are toking you one minute and the next you're winning pots from them? I know to a Vegas dealer it's probably perfectly normal though, anyone ever have a problem? Not hard to imagine a customer making accustations of favoritism over a ruling or something. |

[/ QUOTE ] In the room I deal in here in Montreal we had to institute a policy where the dealer who wants to play must ask the players at the table if any of them object to him sitting in because apparently some nit douchebag complained about it a couple of weeks ago. Other than this one douchebag nit jerkoff nobody yet has had a problem with it, and most players actively petition for us to come play with them when our shifts are done... |
