[ QUOTE ]
So can anyone post records of someone who put in a decent sample over the past 1-2 years at 5/10 that can verify all of the anecdotal evidence? I played live 3/6 for like 300 hours 2 or 3 years ago in one of the worst games imaginable and was around 10ptbb/100 but unfortunately that is only around 9k hands so is meaningless. I am not saying 15, maybe even 20 isn't possible but you guys are acting like it is no problem, where as I am saying conditions have to be perfect. Would love to see some live pros chime in with some results if they don't mind. [/ QUOTE ] Here's what I can offer: I have a friend who plays live poker in Milwaukee, WI, in the biggest public game there, which is 3/5 NL, $600 max buy. It's very soft, and he's the best player in the room for sure. He's been successful at mid-stakes online poker, but not higher (25/50+). He's also someone whose strengths are better suited to live play than to online play, so he's not a typical MS/HSNL 2p2er. Since the internet poker armaggeddon in October, he's logged about 400 hours there, and he's averaging $100/hour over that span. He also has a slightly higher lifetime winrate in NL games with a $5 BB, and he told me he's got records of about 1200 hours of play at that level altogether. These include private games, the Foxwoods $500 max, and games in Atlantic City and Vegas, among others. In other words, though the game in Milwaukee is extremely soft, he considers it fairly typical for a game of that size. The Vegas, AC, FW etc games are also mostly from tournament times, so the game selection in that sample is good. Still, I've played in all of those games, as well, and they are IMO very similar in important ways. And remember, this is in a 3/5 game, not a 5/10 game. Based on that, I believe $100/hour at 5/10 is doable for many of the better players on this board (but really, why would they bother unless online poker disappeared altogether?). So here's the thing: 1200 hours is roughly 40K hands, which, on the internet, as we know, is nowhere near the long run. However, the variance in live NL is MUCH smaller than online, due to the vastly different levels of general aggression. Also, your results indicate what's probable about your EV, even if you don't have a large enough sample to prove it. Basically though, this is a hard one to prove without loads of data, I think. My friend said he won't post his records on here for personal reasons. |

Could it be because you call 150 with 104o in the BB?

Is this Chris??? I am there about 5 days a week and see him on a very regular basis with 2.5K+ in the 3/5 game. This game is also probably the softest game ever. You regularly see 7 players to the flop in an unraised pot, and most times 4 or 5 when it is raised to 25 or 30. The game is juicy for sure and easily beatable for a high rate.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] In my limited experience playing live, averaging 1 buyin a day playing live is nothing to brag home about (aka if you're good, it shouldn't really be that hard at all). [/ QUOTE ] It is 20 PTBB/100 assuming 8 hour day. Even in the worst of games this is very, very hard. [/ QUOTE ] Apples and oranges. Online, you don't have the opportunity to play up to 60% of your hands in a full ring game for 1BB. Nor are you allowed to attack pre-flop money at will, with nobody ever fighting back without a monster. The games aren't often played 300BBs deep by players who'll stack that off with an overpair. And so on. [/ QUOTE ] Cero this is very true re: the games at the Bellagio. Everyone is weak-passive it seems. NL games at the commerce feature a lot of LAGs, some good and some bad, but they are also very juicy if you make the correct adjustments. I sent you a PM regarding the above comments on the vegas games... I'd like to know what you think. Thanks in advance. |

[/ QUOTE ] 40,000 hands / 1200 hours = 33.33 hands/hour I think that is fairly unrealistic - might run good and fast some days but in the long run wont be the case. Most live NL games have large pauses and are more in the 25 hands/hour range |
