position position position
Pretty much everyone agrees, especially in heads up pots, that on average you should make more with your good hands and lose less with your bad hands when you are in position. And that position makes an even bigger difference to your win rate in no limit as opposed to limit.
But roughly how big should eff stacks be for this to be true? In Limit, being oop costs us something every round. But in shorter stack no limit play, the disadvantage of being oop can negated by reducing the betting to 1 or 2 betting rounds. If you had to play holdem h/u oop evry hand against an equal ability opp, how shallow would stacks need to be before you chose the no limit game: |

Re: position position position
I say 100bb because I'd choose ANY NL game over a limit game :P

Re: position position position
If you are equally good at both games I'd say never.

Re: position position position
100 BB is good, you are most of the time against unpaired cards. If you are drawing, what you do most of the time, you need money. If you are short, there is only one move before or on the flop...

Re: position position position
eff stacks = effective stacks, the money you can potentially play for. You might have 100 bb in front of you, but if your opponent has 10 you play for 10.
oop = out of position, your opponent is to act after you. |
