Wayne Allyn Root -running for LP nomination for pres
i went to the state chairs convention in florida, and heard him speak. he has the image/speaking ability/money needed to get the job done, but i do not think he is the right guy. we have some [censored] choices as of now though. i would be worried a guy like this could hurt the LP.
he kept mentioning online poker players though. any of you guys know much about him? |

Re: Wayne Allyn Root -running for LP nomination for pres
i think he can hurt the LP because i dont think he is really a libertarian.
he is still actually registered republican, and when asked about it, he said he was always a republican, but now he is a lifetime libertarian.... which means he led people to believe he changed his registration but didnt. but donated $1000 to national LP. (he lives in nevada, and the state chair looked him up -not register LP). but he is also very strong on defense and pro-war. other questions he avoided by diverting to something else, so im not sure of his stances on some issues. also him living in NV and never been to a NVLP or clark county meeting , didnt make it to the state convention, never donated a penny to the NV or clark county LP, all lead me to believe he doesnt care about building the LP, which should be the primary goals of all presidential candidates. AND HE LIVES HERE, someone serious enough to run, should be serious enough to show up to meetings. also his book is called millionaire republican. http://www.millionairerepublican.com/ we have [censored] choices so far for next election.... maybe ron paul , after loosing the republican nomination will run as LP.... |

Re: Wayne Allyn Root -running for LP nomination for pres
The Libertarian Party really can't do any worse than it has in the past. Their candidate is almost always a joke. If Libertarians want to ever get more than 0.5% of the vote, they should ditch the looney presidential campaigns and concentrate on actually electing a few people at the local level. And worrying about whether someone is a "real libertarian" is absolutely the wrong way to build a party. |

Look at what Ralph Nader did to the Democrats. They lost an election beacause of his campaign. They immediately try to get that base back moving to the left. The Libertarian Party wants to get the issues they support out, even if they are implemented by candidates from the 2 major parties. The more these parties must appease libertarian voters, the closer to their goal they are. |

Re: Wayne Allyn Root -running for LP nomination for pres
the goal of the presidential candidates is to help build the party on all levels, imo.
but they do need to get the rest of the loonies out.... something they have been working on for a while. i foresee good things happening within the LP in the next few years. |
