Hard to say, but I think you may have been outplayed by a big stack.

There's no flush draw out there so it's highly unlikely it's a semibluff. As played, I think this is a fold.

As far as check/calling this flop, I'm confused by that advice. If you check this flop and he makes a decent sized bet you are committing yourself to a push on the turn, aren't you? Do you plan to lead push the turn?

I usually lead this flop myself, because any smaller pair folds here, and it's a scary enough board that I doubt anyone bluffs with air here after you have bet. Maybe this is a leak in my game, as this sucks when you have have to fold having blown 40% of your stack.
