Was "then" before the Bellagio room expanded to 40 tables?

but many people stay at the Bellagio based on its old reputation, and they are there to see Las Vegas and gamble, not really to play poker.

But you said it doesn't really mean he is a poor player.
If he's just there to see LV then he probably is NOT a great player.

If he isn't really there to play much poker and he doesn't even know that in casino-poker hold-em almost anywhere in the U.S. that QKA23 doesn't count as a straight, then he probably IS a poor player.

It doesn't mean he can't become a good player once he learns the rules. Perhaps he's a super-prodigy or something.
But to make a mistake like this almost certainly means he isn't terribly good.

maybe have to check out the Bellagio again. I was appalled at the service the last time I was there. Packed in like sardines and the rudest staff I'd ever encountered.

I think you can expect more of the same.

I always thought that the nuttiest business to ever occur at the Bellagio 4/8 donkfest happened when some schmuck took me 12 bets on the river with me holding the stone cold nut flush.

[ QUOTE ]
But at the showdown, he flipped over K3 offsuit. The dealer pushed me the pot, and he complained very loudly that he should have won. His reasoning was that a QKA23 made a straight! He even told the dealer, "Look. I have 12, 13, ace, 2, 3!"

[/ QUOTE ]

I now stand corrected. In spite of the fact that some home game rules would consider this hand a straight, Toopskees' bozo makes my bozo look like Albert Einstein.

My wife and I stayed no where but the Belligio for years, and now we NEVER stay there, though it's free.

Since Wynn sold it, service has been steadily going downhill, staff is often rude (and there are legtimate reasons for this) unknowledgable about places to eat as they are not allowed to eat there even on their time off (at least that's what I've been told by more than one staffer before we stopped staying there).

I can't honestly talked about poker changes, as I did not play poker when we stayed there. The few times I've played poker there, many people seem exceedingly like tourists playing just to say the've played at Bellagio.

The Bellagio went from being a fine hotel, to an average hotel in terms of service, and it's also much dirtier now, chairs have rips and tears, it's just sad.
