In My Eyes - Rage Against the Machine [/ QUOTE ] I would have to differ here. This is a cover of a classic Minor Threat song, and gives homage to one of the most infuential bands in the history of American hardcore music. |

[ QUOTE ] Lay Lady Lay-Bob Dylan [/ QUOTE ] It took me a while to "get" this song. Try to track down a live version from 1974 (Before The Flood is an OK performance). Nashville Skyline may be a little too country for your tastes. [/ QUOTE ] I'm just never gonna like this one. Bob's hands down my favorite artist, but this song has just never sat with me. It's ok since he has given me a 1000 others that I love. I know he had quit smoking at the time, which is why he sounds so different, most would say better but not me. He must not be to fond of it either, since I have seen him live over a 100 times from the 80's to present, and he has never played it once. I even prefer his man gave names to all the animals slow train track better than lay lady lay. Most critics panned his 80s and early 90s stuff but I always loved it. If he ever had a bad record, to me it was nashville skyline, minus the north country throw in. Been nothing but pure gold from time out of mind thru modern times. Better with age. |

Re: Songs you hate from bands you otherwise love
I have a hard time with a lot of his post 80s stuff. He's also one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite. Just recently broke down and bought Infidels, Slow Train, and Planet Waves. Not yet "into" them at all. It is entirely possible that they grow on me. Nashville isn't my favorite, but Lay Lady Lay, NS Rag, Peggy Day, One More Night, Country Pie, and Tonight I'll be... and of course Cash/Dylan are all enjoyed. I enjoy overall up-beat countryness of the entire album.

Re: Songs you hate from bands you otherwise love
Wow, I never knew that. (like Dylan and the Beatles) Led Zeppelin has so many varied sounds - it's hard not to like it when they do something a little different. I think Hot Dog fits in with Misty Mountain Hop, White Summer/BMS, and South Bend Suarez. I do dig on Hot Dog. It is a song that makes me smile, shake my head in a diagonal rhythmatic fashion and possibly even tap my fingers and hands.
