Pstars Rounders Freeroll 17 left
Ok earlier I posted a hand I was pretty confident I played ok,, although villian seemed a tad bit upset with it.. I now am in 4th place with 17 ppl left..
Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t400/t800 (Ante: t50) 7 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t2125 UTG+1: t13930 MP1: t33058 CO: t73032 Hero: t28162 SB: t7904 BB: t23680 Pre-flop: (7 players) Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls t800 (pot was t1550), MP1 calls t800 (pot was t2350), CO raises to t10600, Hero raises all-in t28112, 4 folds, CO calls t17512 (pot was t41862). Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t59374, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t59374) Turn: Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (t59374, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t59374) River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (t59374, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t59374) Results: Final pot: t59374 CO showed 3s 3d Here is what I was thinking preflop... 1.) I recently read where Sklansky wrote that AKs all-in preflop against every hand except AA isnt in too bad a shape.. 2.) The big pre-flop raiser before me was raising with alot of hands (although in hindsight this was big even for him) But still he made that raise with 33 so I dont think I was that far off... 3.) I didnt want to call off over a third of my stack in this spot and miss the flop and have to fold.. 4.) I was fairly confident everybody else would fold.. After the hand was over I started to wonder if strategically this was a smart play. I was in great shape to make the final table and surely could of found a better spot to tangle with the chipleader... Although IF I won this hand I would have the chip lead.... I really need input on this hand... So feel free to fire away... Thanx |

Re: Pstars Rounders Freeroll 17 left
Nah actually this hand wasnt standard... no offense but from a tactical standpoint I screwed this hand up and probally should of folded. I think anyway,,, Although it was
probally at WORST a coin flip... There were alot of reasons to fold this pre-flop... Just not sure what they ALL are... lol |

If you would have hit a King or an Ace you would think you made the play of the century. Just because you lost doesn't mean it was wrong.

Re: Pstars Rounders Freeroll 17 left
No, you definitely shouldn't have folded. Ask yourself how often players make such a big over-raise in good position with AA or KK. Answer is approximately never. How often do players make a big over-raise here (after 2 players have limped) with low suited connectors, random garbage, weaker aces, etc? Answer is: a lot more often. And yes, plenty of the time you'll be flipping. But there were two limpers and lots of chips out there, point being you're easily ahead of his range.

Re: Pstars Rounders Freeroll 17 left
Lol your probally right.. But after this hand I started to think more about this from a strategic aspesct.. I am pretty sure I could of outplayed this particular player in later hands so I definetly didnt need to play preflop coinflips against them... I easily could of strolled to the final table in this particular game plus I would of had position on this player most hands.... I can lose with ak preflop and be ok with it so it wasnt because I lost this hand that is irking me... It's that strategically it was a horrible play.....

Re: Pstars Rounders Freeroll 17 left
Maybe... I didnt put them on AA or KK,, buy may AQ-A8 or any PP... With this particular though that big over raise (which even for them was out of character) was the only reason I could give them that much credit..... I guess you might be right though about being ahead of his range of hands though,,, I saw where the raise came from and it triggered that "all-in reflex"

Re: Pstars Rounders Freeroll 17 left
Let's give him a slightly tight range that he could possibly do this with. He's the big stack and nobody behind him can really do much.
I never really do this so please correct me if I'm wrong. Here are the stats: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 57.717% 53.51% 04.21% 26839520 2111833.50 { AKs } Hand 1: 42.283% 38.07% 04.21% 19097433 2111833.50 { 22+, ATs+, KQs, QJs, ATo+, KQo, QJo } and with somewhat of a range that you are thinking: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 58.324% 53.74% 04.58% 16720663 1424580.50 { AKs } Hand 1: 41.676% 37.10% 04.58% 11541327 1424580.50 { 22+, A8s+, A8o+ } |

Re: Pstars Rounders Freeroll 17 left
OP, stop being results oriented. Taking a coinflip at this point is a good thing. Even though, it isn't a coinflip because you are a favourite against villains range. You were unlucky that he had a pair, and you weren't lucky when he won the coinflip. Variance. You would not have posted this hand if you won it. Sometimes in poker you make the right decision and get punished anyway.
