Venetian NL tourney.

So the button raises preflop, and the BB goes in the tank about it.

The raiser then says, "and I am all in blind on the flop no matter what it is."

Floor wasn't called, BB folded.

Is this legal? Binding?

Not binding unless there is a specific house rule about out of turn verbal declarations being binding. If that's the case I'd stay away from there.

I didn't think it would be. At first I thought yes, but then I thought that he shouldn't be able to say this at all. What an angle shoot...

I asked the floor about it, he "wasn't really sure, but thinks it WOULD BE binding"

Had I been the BB I wouldn't have been happy with this glorified string raise.

Not binding, but heads up, why wouldn't it be legal? I'd be glad to have that information, and if he didn't push on the flop, I'd give it serious consideration. Hell, maybe even push pre-flop. Regardless, it's added information, never unhelpful.

I consider such statements when the action is not on the loud-mouth to be threats and don't think they should be binding. Until the flop action is complete, you can't be betting post-flop. Grimstarring is legal, if douchey. Soon as the blind calls, I would think that statement becomes binding since action on that street is complete and we're on to the next round of betting. But I gots no huge issue if a floor wants to rule otherwise and call it binding.

In a tournament, everyone is effected even if it is HU. In a cash came you MAY be allowed to do certain things like expose cards or verbally state your hand once it is HU, but in a tournament it is not permitted unless only two players remain.

Oops, my bad, didn't realize it was a tourney. Yeah, that seems a bit shady.

I guess it's up to the rules of the casino but in my experience this is binding, but I work in europe so it might to totally different in the states
