Poker Monitor Specs
I am looking to buy an LCD monitor for under $300, specifically for playing about 4 tables on PokerStars simultaneously. I figure based on this I should look for:
4:3 ratio Fast response (no more than 8 ms?) Does anything else matter much (ie. is resolution an issue since tables are resizable?) Also, I saw this monitor for under $200 which looks great in so many areas, but the response time is 25 ms. This is WAY behind everything else I've seen. Should I stay away from that one? |

Re: Poker Monitor Specs
The Samsung 204B seems to get good reviews.
I would stay away from the Walmart monitor. I don't think the lower price is worth getting an inferior product that you might have to replace in a year. If all you're doing is 4-tabling on Stars, you might want to consider a quality 19" monitor like the Dell 1907FP, because you can you Stars "tile" function that will allow you to play 4 tables with no overlap. |

Re: Poker Monitor Specs
You'll need a monitor that has 1200 vertical pixels to be compatible with 4-tabling on all sites. You have two options WUXGA (16/9 @ 1920x1200) or UXGA (4:3 @ 1600x1200). For $300, you should be able to find a used 2001fp off craigslist ($174-$250). For a little more, you'll be able to get 2 used ones.
Response time is not going to matter much for poker. For gaming, it will. But what you need is 1200 vertical pixels or you will hate life. |
