Browser redirected by malware?
We've been running IE 7.0 on our stationary pentium 4 driven PC (Windows XP home ed) without problems for a while, but suddenly when we click links the browser is being redirected to a host of different commercial site - including Symantec!
We have updated versions of AVG free edition, ZoneAlarm firewall free edition and we're running daily scans with these programs and with updated Ad-Ware. They can't localize the issue. Any suggestions how to recapture the control of the browser? Thanks in advance Johan |

Re: Browser redirected by malware?
You can try to repair Internet Explorer, described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378
Also, you can try to disable addons in Explorer, described here: www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/web/sp2_addonmanager.mspx Last, you can download another browser - to use if something like this happens in the future, like www.getfirefox.com |

Re: Browser redirected by malware?
Thanks guys.
I came across the SaferNetworking forum link , where volunteers help victims of malware (like me) through the steps to healing. Major ordeal, obv. |
