Default rules question: dealer mucks a hand at the SD

major european tournament. 2 players at the flop. player A bets, player 2 moves all in. player A deliberates and says (with accent and not very clearly) : "i think you have aces but i call". then he openly throws his pocket kings towards the center of the table.
the dealer missunderstands him and mucks his hand. she shoves the pot towards player B who shows KQ - the hand is behind on a Qxx board against player A's KK. player one complains that he had called.

are the cards of player A still live or not?

Hand mucked. Pot shoved. Hand shown. Now Player A complains?

That was my first thought. These things have a tendency to change as they are told and retold.

The few times I have yelled at a dealer was when I showed the winner on the Showdown and he tried to muck my hand. "Yelled", as in "Whoa!" or "Stop!".

Why are you kicking dealer in the nuts.

Player with thick accent says something which dealer apparently misunderstands and then player throws his cards away (albiet face up) while faced with a bet. Part of what the player said was apparently that he thought he was beat. So the dealer gets a KITN for not understanding that which was said unclealry and coupled with the act of throwing away the hand?

One of these days a dealer just might kick you back.

Because it is a dealer.
Because dealers are supposed to be part mindreader, part shrink, part Comedy Central standup.
Because the player has no responsibility to make sure his actions are clear to everybody.

i know the story from the perspective of the tournament director. when he arrived at the table, the kings where in the muck and the pot was in front of player B (but didn't cross the betting line yet).
so i think the pot was shoved to player B and the KQ was shown and then player A complained. i can't imagine that the dealer handed out the pot after player A complained (not sure though). it is also very likely that player A saw the cards of player B before he said anything.

so how would you rule?
