So is Stars gonna pay for the cost for us to change our flights and/or give us an additional night's hotel too? This presents a number of potential problems.

[/ QUOTE ]

Shane, did Stars tell you that they will reimburse you the cost of
changing your return flight?

I got the email concerning the extra night hotel for free, but didn't
receive anything about changing the flight.

I'm wondering if its worth an extra $300 just to kibitz the final
table.

The first email I received on the subject read as follows:

As you may have heard, EPT Monte Carlo now has an extra day added at the end of this tournament. This will only affect the players who are playing at that stage. Anyone who finds themselves in that situation will have their hotel room and flight changes (if any) paid for by PokerStars and the EPT. You can find full details below.

[/ QUOTE ]

They seemed to revise this, offering one night hotel to everyone, but I really don't know how they intend to handle the flight situation. Anyway, the only way I'd change my flight to stick around is if I or someone very close to me was at the FT, and that'll be a problem I welcome. So, no, not worth it for the kibitz factor.

Well actually I get to enjoy a free night because I'm staying 3 extra days anyway. THis actually really works out well for me because I was planning on taking 3 days to drive to Rome (where I'm flying home from) and paying a premium for dropping off my rental in ROme. Now I think I will drive to FLorence on the extra day, return to Monte Carlo and take the train to Rome for our last 2 nights. So my view of the whole situation is equally biased in the opposite direction. (I'm saving 1 night's hotel, 2 days of a rental and a $500 drop off charge).

And I'm willing to bet that most of the EUropean qualifiers will be able to stay the extra day, and that there are more European qualifiers than North american.

As far as accomodating more players, when I first went on the EPT website, Monte Carlo was to be maxed at 400 entrants, with 2 starting days. If they go to 600 for example, they still have 2 days, but 50% more players returning on day 2 will take longer. I'm sure they looked towards the end of the line and thought going from x players to the final table (In EPT I think it's 10 person final tables) was too big a stretch.

Just FYI:

Hello Noah,

At today's exchange rate, the EPT Monte Carlo package (excluding accomodation) comes to W$13,650. If you win a seat in a satellite after doing this, you'll receive W$ instead of the seat.

I hope this helps, but if you have further queries, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Best regards,

I've come to the conclusion that some people just like to complain. Given the alternatives, capping the entries, playing shorter levels, or playing crazy long nights I love the decision to add 1 extra day at the end. 6-10 people (all of whom will be much wealthier) will need to change their plans and the rest of us get an extra nights stay for free. Once again I think Stars has come through with flying colours. I think I might use the extra day to rent a car and drive into Italy before coming home. ANd if I screw up and happen to be playing the final table I'll have to take my winnings and use them to plan a return trip.

My suggestion for those that are unhappy is just to stay home and keep the spending money and leave an empty seat at the tournament. That will send stars a message and for sure they'll get it right next year.

[/ QUOTE ]

No offense, David, but that is bullcrap. The extra day means I am missing the equal of xmas eve or thanks giving dinner for you guys. Obviously I don't have to stay for the FT, but it still sucks.

[/ QUOTE ]

Again, if you have to stay that extra day you're taking home at least a mid-six-figure paycheck. I'd stab Santa with the turkey wishbown from Thanksgiving to be in that position.

On a more serious note, yours is the most legitimate complaint I've heard so far about this. On the one hand, I want to say I hope it doesn't become a problem for you, but that comes a bit close to wishing you bad luck in the tourney which doesn't feel right either.

[/ QUOTE ]

what people dont understand is that Jewish holidays are extremely different from that of other holidays..my family as an orthodox jewish family follow ALL of the rules. A Pesach Seder is an extremely holy time, it is what Jews call a "red letter" day, which means that all of the rules that must be followed on the Sabbath must be followed on that day as well. Which means, no driving, no using electricity, etc. Ontop of that, on Passover (Pesach) you cannot eat bread...only matzah...which taste like absolute ****

by changing the schedule it DOES horribly screw Jews, and just because they are raking in the money doesn't mean that the religious Jews won't miss one of the biggest holidays of the year.
