give up or stab?
Button is a somewhat too loose and passive regular, BB is a named player in the Shooting Stars tournament who does hot stuff like limping UTG with 87o and calling down 77 multiway against a preflop raiser on QJ4Tx boards. Button opens, I 3-bet 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in the SB, BB calls, button calls. Flop Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Should I just save my money and check-fold?
FWIW, my image is crap since I've been both card dead and losing when I get my money in, but does the answer change at all depending on my image? Button is also aware that this game is somewhat bigger than I usually play, but I don't think he's doing anything to take advantage of that. |

I can think of a lot of worst flops then this. This situation isnt as bad as you think. Bet the flop and see what happens.

Re: give up or stab?
I agree. I like a bet here, and re-evaluate based on BB's/Button's actions... Check/folding is too weak here after 3-betting from the SB IMO.

Re: give up or stab?
I expect to, at a minimum, get two calls on this flop almost every time. Button is basically not folding any two, and BB's range is skewed towards pocket pairs and medium suited connectors. I think I'm likely to end up OOP multiway and hating maybe 60% of the turn cards.
Of course, I bet anyways, because "hey, I 3-bet preflop and 3-bet/check is lame", BB calls, button raises, I fold. It's nice that everyone thinks it's a bet, but I'm not really convinced. |

Re: give up or stab?
Where'd I say he was a fish? He's possibly a breakeven 40/80 player in this room, and likely a winning 20/40 player when he plays that low. He may be generally too loose and too passive, but he's plenty good enough to be opening with something like 30+% of his hands on the button. I usually have the best hand with 77, and because he's somewhat passive, he'll play fairly honestly with me postflop so I can make pretty easy decisions. BB coming along screws all this up, though.
In any case, I think 77 is an automatic 3-bet against almost anyone here preflop. |
