Default Stupid Question re Downswing

I'm trying to decide if I am on a downswing or if I just simply suck at live ring game poker. Over my last 4 live sessions at $1-2NL totaling about 50 hours of play, I am down a little over 10 buy-ins ($2k). The last 2 sessions alone accounted for almost 9 of those buy-ins. During one of the sessions, I went on a pretty bad - 2 buyin tilt run. In the latest session, I did not really tilt hard at any point, just ran insanely unlucky throughout the whole session (e.g., flopped trips 3 times and each time someone had flopped a boat; had 2 sets the whole session, won $30 with one and lost huge (like $250) on the other when the flush got there; lost every stupid little pot when I had some short-stack put all his chips in on me (my 2 pair loses to guy who pushes with Ace high when the board comes runner runner to give him better two pair; my overpair loses to underpair who pushes flop when he hits set on river)).

For my lifetime now at live $1-2NL (which is about 3 years), I am officially in the red. I should just quit, right? At what point (in terms of a buy-ins), is a downswing not a downswing but rather an indication that you simply suck?

If you are in the red after losing $2K after three years, you go to the casino like once every three months, right?

Ten buy-ins seems like too much for the 1/2 NL live, but it's possible as variance I guess.
