Re: Beat: New Cardrunners article
ok, serious response here:
Sunglasses tilt some opponents, therefore sunglasses are +EV. Anyone see something illogical about this statement. I think I will start wearing sunglasses now. |

Re: Beat: New Cardrunners article
mini trip report below:
LOL...this reminds me of some dude playing at the casino a few weeks ago. Playing 1-2nl due to no FTP checks at the time...ugh. This kid sits down and puts a hard case on the table, opens it, and removes his sunglasses. 3 or 4 of us kind of smirk about this but don't say anything. He then buys in for $100 at a $200 max table, no big deal. On the second orbit he gets JJ in the BB 7 or 8 handed. UTG+1(who was a maniac) raises to $12, sunglasses makes it $25, UTG+1 goes all in, and sunglasses folds JJ face up for about 35bb more. He then proceeds to tell the table what a great laydown he made and sits there waiting for praise. After rambling on about it for a few minutes I told him to shut up, it was a terrible fold for less than half a buy in, he argues, I drop it. Later on he won't stop talking about how we should all put $100 in before the flop and do a 7 way coinflip. He mentions it like 5 or 6 times before I ask him if he wants to gamble so bad why he didn't just call for half a buy in vs the idiot when he had JJ. He tells me it was a great lay down I wouldn't be good enough to make but he just wants to gamble. I say fine, someone give me a quarter to flip and I will let you pick heads or tails right now for $100. He suprisingly refuses this. That's when the whole table starts to berate him for being a moron and wearing these goofy looking sunglasses. That's when some guy asks this kid the funniest thing I've heard in a long long time.(at least if you were there it was hilarious due to his reaction) Guy: What cost more, the sunglasses or the case you brought them in? Kid: What do you mean, I don't understand the question? Guy: repeats the question. Kid: I just don't get it, I don't know what you mean?(he's starting to get really embarrassed at this point) Guy: I mean it's a really nice case, which cost more? The kid just ignores him now as the whole table is laughing at him. He left after a couple hands to go to another table or maybe even left the casino, I didn't pay attention. Brag: was drunk and berating some douchebag NIT Beat: was playing 1/2nl while almost my whole roll sat stuck on FTP Variance: ran horrible but still won a half a buy in |

Re: Beat: New Cardrunners article
I heard this short story from a dealer at Caesar's IN.
The guy was dealing in a 1/2NL or 2/4minbet game when this new player sits at the table. He has his WSOP dressup kit (hat, sunglasses, etc.) and buys in for the minimum or something. The first hand he gets, the action's on him and he takes awhile to do something. The dealer reminds him the action is on him. Sure enough, he lifts up his glasses so he can see his cards. |

Re: Beat: New Cardrunners article
ok, I am now bringing sunglasses with me where ever I go and if I get into a pot with a good player or a 2+2er, I will take them out of my jacket and put them on.

I read in an interview of Phil Ivey that he bought a pair of sunglasses for around $1k. He took them to a tourney and played with them for the first couple of hours. Finally a hand came up that turned into a big pot and at the end of the hand Ivey realized that he misread his cards cuz of the tint of the glasses. He got knocked out and afterwards walked to the nearest trashcan and chucked his new expensive pair of shades. |
