still trying to strengthen my weak post-flop playing.

villain was pretty unknown at the time, but seemed a bit on the laggy side (very small sample, was his 15th or so hand at the table)

Do i re-raise on the flop? bet the turn? river? i'm terribly clueless when i'm OOP with a 1 pair hand (in fact i normally fold this hand preflop cause i know i'm so weak oop postflop).

Those minraises always slow me right down (major leak i think?).. I all but asked him to make a move on the river by being so weak. But still, can i call it? I mean i guess he could have AA/KK/89/k9/AK or something else that had me beat all along, but why would he check behind on the turn if he had something like that, only to just shove on the river.. gah :\ i think all i'm really scared of here is some random 9x hand that hit trips on the river cause i gave him 2 free cards.

*note* villain ended up being 64/17/3.50 by the end of the session (he lasted around 100 hands). Had i known this during the hand, does it make this a call (if it isn't already)?

anyways enough rambling.. your thoughts?

I usually fold this pre-flop. Like you said, it is a trouble hand oop against a raise. If I feel the raiser is getting out of line too much I prefer re-raising it pf.

If I call pf I'd c/c the flop, keeping the pot small. Check/fold to a big bet on the turn or vb river if he
checks behind.

As played, no way you can call that stupid river bet

k so i guess as played it wasn't too bad.

Yea PF i normally fold, but i've been told i'm too much of a nit (like 15/10) so i've been trying to play more hands because i hear i'm missing out on some value.

i guess if i was smart i'd open up more in position rather than out, eh? :P

ah well, lesson learned.. at least i got off cheap (folded, obv). I guess i just saw this guy raising a lot, saw that he was on the button and it was folded around to him.. so i put him on ATC and figured my KQ was good, which it may very well have been.. but yea too expensive to guess.

Yes, KQ is an ok hand but bad to play against a raise.

I don't think betting out is that bad, but I'd bet about 2/3 pot. Turn check for pot control is good.

In general, vs huge overbets in not so large sized pots, we'd like to not get it in with a one pair hand such as TP2k. Given that villain has shown a lot of strength throughout the hand, there's really no reason to think he's holding QJ. Even if this is a bluff, he will stack off to you anyways eventually if he keeps doing this.

I'm a nit, too. There should be a support group for us. Wait, isn't that what this place is for?

I don't like to play KQ unless I'm putting in a raise with it. I can't remember the last time I called a PFR with it in the blinds. I often won't play it in position against an early position raiser, but I've nitted a nice collection of sweaters. I'm losing enough money in the blinds as is, without playing a dominated hand OOP.

I like your flop bet, but I'd fold to the raise (both times).

Definitely not putting my stack in with it on this board.

I would fold it preflop in both hands, too.
