Playing poker on a full hd tv
So I want to buy a lcd tv, to watch my favourite shows. And I was looking at the 40" sony's and stumbled upon this 1080p model.
It is like €500 more then the other models, but it offers full hd support in the form of a 1920*1080 resolution. Since that is more then my current 22" tft monitor offers I should be able to fit 6 tables on that screen. This way I could just play poker sitting in my lazy chair all day, or am I missing something here? I will be sitting approx. 3 meters away from the screen. |

Re: Playing poker on a full hd tv
I got a similar setup, works fine. But 3m would be a bit too far away. Remember, when running under 1920*1080, windows in general and fonts in ur poker windows will get really small. I sit about 1,5-2 meters away.
If u want to run it in hd mode, remember that only newer graphics cards support such high resolutions over dvi. |

Re: Playing poker on a full hd tv
I've been uncertain for months as regards to what monitor/tv to go for, for my expanding multitabling needs.
I currently use a 32" HD LCD @ 1366x768.I can 4 table shrunken stars/party from around 1 1/2 metres viewing distance with no problems. I want to crank it up to 8 tabling, and i was close to buying another 32" LCD with the same spec or possibly 1920x1080. The conclusion i've now come to: This is all well and good if i'm only playing at stars/party & 1 or 2 other rooms that allow much smaller tables. If i want to play at other sites in the future & multitable, i'm basically fooked without a 1200 vertical resolution. I may well just buy the Dell Ultrasharp 2007FP 20.1" @ 1600x1200 res and have the flexability to 4 table with that at any poker room and continue either 4 tabling at stars or party on the other LCD. I'm also considering either one of these as my 2nd monitor, as i'll have 1920x1200 & an HD input. BenQ FP241W 24" Widescreen HDMI/HDCP LCD HD Monitor Samsung SM-244T 24" Widescreen HDCP LCD Monitor |

Re: Playing poker on a full hd tv
I play on party, so yeah I've got resizable tables .
It will be either something like this: a 32" hdtv for around €900 + A new pc probably a macbook or a 40" sony w2000 (€1700-1800 here) full hd. I'm not sure yet, because although it sounds nice, I probably won't play poker on my sofa a lot. |
