Default controlling the pot size

I understand controlling the pot size is important in both no limit but especially pot limit games....

actually i don't... what when where and why?

The main reason pot control is important in any kind of poker is to give yourself additional options on later streets. If you balloon the pot early, especially in shorthanded or HU pots and your opponents are likely to call one or two barrels pretty lightly it's important to keep the pot somewhat smaller so you can afford to bluff when you miss and so you can get away from the hand when you are second best.
