open ended straight and flush draw on flop
Absolute Poker
Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.25/$0.5 6 players Converter Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 folds, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, Hero checks. Flop: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4SB, 4 players) SB bets, Hero raises, CO 3-bets, Button calls, SB calls, Hero caps, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls. Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (10BB, 4 players) SB checks, Hero checks, CO bets, Button raises, SB folds, Hero calls, CO calls. Basically want to know my flop and turn play. River play is pretty straightforward as I check fold when I miss and check raise when I hit. I think button has a strong enough hand that he will bet all rivers no matter the card. Was caping the flop correct? Do I lead the turn? Do I have enough equity on the turn to cap it again or was calling or folding the 2 bet better? Thanks |

Re: open ended straight and flush draw on flop
I'd lead the turn and river the K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. The button almost certainly has a straight so that is the money card here.

Re: open ended straight and flush draw on flop
The flop play was good. I usually call the bet from the sb because I want to build a big pot and don't want to scare any one away. On the turn you are aprox. 2.5 to 1 against improving your hand so calling is ok since you need 4 oponents or more to cap.

Re: open ended straight and flush draw on flop
I think I only call the flop and then 3-bet or cap when it comes raised to me. I'd prefer to lose as few people as possible on the flop.

Re: open ended straight and flush draw on flop
sweet, zombie jesus that's a monster hand. Q-high flush and a (proper?) OESD.
The flop play is brilliant. You have so much equity that you can safely build as large a pot as you like. If someone beats you with a K-high or A-hihg flush, oh well, taht's variance. But the flop play is fine. build a massive pot cos you're taking it down something absurd like 40-45% of the time, while your 3 other opponents collectively together are only winning 55 or summat. call on the turn is correct as well. I'm not convinced capping the turn is okay. bet/call might be though. but my maths may be off, others will tell you. you're 4:1 to see a club, and about the same to see either the K or 8 you need. so maybe it is correct to cap if possible. against 4 players the river fold is probably right. |

Re: open ended straight and flush draw on flop
You aren't losing anybody here so cap the flop and lead the turn (what Shillx said.)
