I read an article in Gambling Theory (while a generally useless book... As much as I love to read tables about the SD of a 15/30 KC Lowball game) about this specific thing.

In sportsbetting this should never be a concern, as you should just bet Kelly or some fraction or use Kelly in some absurd way if you must tweak it.
