Re: Do you honestly care about Global Warming?
[ QUOTE ]
Hmm...I've thought about this before, but I think it would be frowned upon to say you don't care at all about the future of the human race. The way I figure it, our extinction is pretty much inevitable right? So fighting against global warming seems like a donk sucking out on me: only delaying what is bound to happen. And about the validity of global warming, I forget which organization, but it was recently reported after a series of studies that global warming was more than 95% likely to be a real phenomenon, so I do not believe it is false, the question is, do you care more about yourself or the future of your race? Because stopping global warming will require sacrifice by all. [/ QUOTE ] LOL extinction from global warming. Looks like the fear mongers have you right where they want you. |

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6321351.stm This is a pretty big conspiracy if false. [/ QUOTE ] I agree that there is global warming. But I also think humans underestimate Mother Nature's ability to take care of itself. There is a lot of truth in George Carlin's rant from a few years ago. |

Re: Do you honestly care about Global Warming?
Ha, Carlin is the greatest. I recall him mentioning how if plastic isn't bio-degradable Earth will just adapt into a new ecosystem that incorporates plastic. The thing is, Earth isn't necessarily adapting to the needs of humans.

What would be the purpose of making up this phenomenon? [/ QUOTE ] $$$ is correct. I'm not denying its happening. I'm simply saying the effects and the dire consequences are being greatly exaggerated by those whose livelyhood is dependent on global warming being a dire issue. |

[/ QUOTE ] This is quite possibly the most retarded argument I hear when it comes to global warming. Most of these people spent 4-5 of their post college years living off of what is probably a $6 an hour 'stipend' earning their Ph.D. only to get an academic job that pays less than an airplane mechanic when they could easily go into industry and earn a boatload more. Anyone that makes the "lots of money" argument is absolutely clueless. |

[/ QUOTE ] Seems to me that if the "lots of money" argument were true, it should also apply to lots of other areas of scientific research. Why isn't the same accusation of exaggerating and alarmism leveled at biologists studying some aspect of cell function, or the developmental psychologist investigating how children acquire language? I mean, they or most other researchers are just as capable of trumping up alarming consequences of failure to fund their research. Why are climatologists singled out in that regard? |
