I'm the farthest thing from politically correct.

[/ QUOTE ]

People like to say this like it's a badge of honor. A lot of people who say it are rationalizing their insensitivity or unwillingness to rethink prejudices.

Political correctness is a bad thing when it obscures honest dialogue, but not when it compels people to consider the impact of what they say and think.

Congratulations on not caring about offending people, I guess.

During Super Bowl week the only thing said about the Super Bowl is "we've got two black coaches". You'll also hear a complete disregard for any stories aside from those involving blacks.

[/ QUOTE ]

That is completely insane. There were tons of other stories. The biggest story of Super Bowl week was whether Peyton could win.

It's not surprising that all YOU heard was "black coaches," because you seem to be looking for an excuse to spew idiotic superficial nonsense.

There are other things wrong with your post (who the hell was blaming whites for innocent whites getting beaten in Atlanta?) but you should realize that if you think about what you're saying.

He's referring to what was spoken about on "black" radio stations, not the media in general.

it is strange that you remember only three major incidents while you were growing up. The guys like the poster who says blacks are closer to monkeys than whites, I have no problem with, he is too stupid to consider. Just hopes he takes a seat at my table. but people like yourself who can make an articulate argument rationalizing your [censored] are much more dangerous. As far as affirmative action, at least as far as it goes in chicago, it nothing more than a way for white businessmen to front thier wives as owners and recieve the set asides and differitials. White people have recieved more dollars from welfare and affrimaative action than black people. A friend of mine who passed away used to remind me that the color is green.

Yes, I may have misunderstood that and thus mischaracterized that specific part of his post. If so, I apologize for that.

Default David, are you happy with what you started?

Well David, are you happy with what you started?

I guess some of the posts here might make you rethink America's "decreasing" color blindness.

And the posters on this website have above average intelligence compared with society in general.

I think we're a generation or two away from a more palatable observation on this subject.

All I'm really trying to do is argue Sklansky's original post. Sklansky has disappered from this thread and I guess I'm really just wasting my time and offending others.

Sorry to anyone I offended and I really don't consider myself dangerous. I observe patterns and comment on them on a message board.

I have been to liberal cities such as Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, DC, etc; in every one of these cities the racial divisions were extremely sharp and blacks were virtually non-existent from tourist attractions such as the Lincoln Memorial, the Mall, the Met, the Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Park, the Field Museum etc.

One weekend of black tourism does not change anything and in fact now New Orleans is worried about the NBA all-star game next year causing a crime wave they are not prepared for. Remember this is the same crowd that Sklansky states illustrates color blindness. The city of New Orleans and the NBA both see the crowd as harbingers of crime.

Default Re: possible IQ-differences between ethnic groups

Why should the human brain - unlike the rest of the body - for some reason have been immune against environmental selective pressures for the past 200.000 years?

Is it really inconceivable that intelligence might have given a greater selective advantage to someone living in a city and supporting themselves through business/medicine etc (Ashkenazi Jews), than it did to a person living in a hunter-gatherer society in Sub-Saharan Africa without any written language.

[ QUOTE ]

So does that mean that this country has become basically colorblind? Possibly. But I have another theory. I believe that the acceptance of black people has been accelerated by the fact that white people's prejudice are now focused on Middle Easterners (because of terrorism) and Hispanics (because of illegal aliens). Add that to the fact that whites have noticed how many black people have died, along with white people, both at the World Trade Center, and fighting in Iraq, and you have a situation where mild bigots look elsewhere. If so this is one small silver lining regarding the otherwise unpleasant events of the last few years. Agree or disagree?

[/ QUOTE ]

Great point, what changed from the times of separation of 'white and black's' during the early 1900's? I believe prejudice between 'whites and blacks' has come a long way over time. I think a lot can be brought to the environment kids are being raised under in addition to the middle eastern influence and terrorism scare. Social structure, schools, public influence (black history month, slavery and racism issues studied at young levels in example), and the improved culture and nature of living that have developed with time could have influenced this acceptance of the two groups more then the middle eastern influence.

I think it's because in a casino nobody give a hoot in hell what you are or what color you are as long as you have money. I also think that people feel extra super safe on the Las Vegas strip. They just assume there is so much security and the eye-in-the-sky will see everything.
