Is \"Management Trainee\" a real job?
I have an interview for a financial group looking for "Manager Trainee" This sounds pretty interesting if I can get it and they can pay me enough starting out to cover my monthly nut.
He is an ad http://www.careerbuilder.com/JobSeeker/J...ncial+Group"%24 Is this a scam of some sort? The interview is done in a mass format and it is after a 1 hour video. Should I waste my time. LLL |

It's usually a way to get people to do the [censored] line jobs nobody will take without some promise of future glory. They'll tell you in order to train, you need to "experience" all the various aspects of the business. Bull [censored].

Whats the downside of checking it out further - besides a little wasted time? If you don't have a job, you're time isn't worth anything anyway.

Re: Is \"Management Trainee\" a real job?
I don't know in this case. The best way to find out is to go to the interview and ask about what you will have to do to be promoted and what the time line is. If they give you quantifiable goals and a time frame, you're probably okay. If they don't, I'd pass.
I've got a friend starting a job doing outside sales for a party rental company (tents, decorations, punch fountains, red carpet, and all that crap). His clients will be hotels, convention centers, etc... He had to spend 30-60 days on the set-up crew so that he'll know how to manage the projects he sells. Point being, there are cases where, with no experience, you need to do the job for awhile to learn how to manage people doing the job. If the company is serious though, they'll define what you have to do to become a manager. |

These "positions" are fairly common here in Socal. I see them all the time. More often than not you'll be someone's bitch

Re: Is \"Management Trainee\" a real job?
a one hour video and mass interview smells like a scam. don't waist your time. one or both will happen.
1) you will be selling $2500 vacuum cleaners or some other scam item door to door. 2) you will have to buy or pay for a kit of some sort to start working. |
