If you are going to Monte Carlo, I would recommend dressing in fairly formal stylish well-made clothes everywhere.

You got to remember that as in neighboring France and Italy they are really into style and formality. They haven't been effected by the movement away from an emphasis on show in the Reformation. Also, Europe did not move away from formal dress as much as the US in did in the 1960s and 1970s.

Monte Carlo is extremely wealthy, both in terms of inhabitants and visitors and most people go around dressed very elegantly.

I think that if anything, it serves the best interests of Americans & 2+2'ers to represent in a favorable light. A bunch of 18-25? yr. olds who show up in crappy jeans and tennis shoes will only prove the suspicions that we are a nation of unsophisticated sloths. Which is of course mostly true, but it never hurts to fake it.

No, balla is when you buy a bunch of nice clothes with the poker money you win, so that you don't have to worry about things like "can I get into places" when you get to a foreign country. Obv Brandon Schaeffer disagrees though.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't disagree with your definition of balla, I just choose not to live like one.

I think it is a good idea to try to dress nicer than normal but I have this laziness problem that forces me to rock a t-shirt and cargo shorts all the time. I'm down to try good food though so if you are planning on going to that nice restaurant, let me know and I'll bring one fancy outfit.

And, sorry for not making it clear in my first post that the Casino is not where the tournament is held.

Hey Brandon, I wasn't even responding to your comments with regards to "ballerness," don't be so touchy! But I accept your apology for being unclear about the casino/tournament venue thing.

Louis XV - try to go if you can, I think it is still a Michelin 3 Star - fewer than 30 of these in the world...expect it would be worth the journey

I just bought in 14k but they say i have to wear pokerstars gear what if I refuse?

[/ QUOTE ]

If it comes down to it (a conflict where they insist you have to wear the gear and you refuse) you will likely be banned from playing at the site. It's happened in at least two instances I know of. I think it's a joke that they expect us to wear their gear the entire time with no additional compensation, but somehow I don't recall Yellowsuck wearing their logo during the FT. Jeff?

[/ QUOTE ]
If you buy in through the site, you are using a service provided by the site. You buy in with W$, so you are getting in cheaper, you get a good hotel room and you get everything sorted out for you. In return, you have to wear PokerStars branded clothing during the tournament.

If you don't want to wear PokerStars branded clothing during the tournament, you can simply buy in directly with the casino and organise everything else yourself.

Also, anyone who wins a seat with FPP is obliged to wear PokerStars branded clothing during the event, but anyone who wins a seat in a cash satellite is not.

There's a dress code for the poker room too (smart casual), so it's definitely a good plan.

I don't plan on bringing anything more than what I normally wear. If you need something, just buy it there.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would not recommend this. Last time I forgot to pack a bathing suit
and wanted to use the pool at Hotel de Paris. The cheapest one I could
find was 345 euros. So unless you are the type who doesn't mind
spending $1200 for a shirt, $7650 for a suit, or $2200 for a pair a
shoes, I suggest you pack what you need.

I ended up going to the pool in my boxer shorts and nobody seemed to
notice. But that trick won't work if you try to get into the casino.

Care to join me for a tie-and-jacket-required meal this year at Louis XV?

[/ QUOTE ]
I'd be happy to join you...either there or Alain Ducasse...if you
think that you can reserve a table on such short notice.

But even with our best suits, would they let two schleps like us in?

Lol yes I think so...Are there two Alain Ducasse restaurants? I thought Louis XV was THE Alain Ducasse restaurant.

I am really curious why you get on an internet message board and talk about your son so much. In my opinion (which is always right), that is a really low-life thing to do. I dont like to talk bad about people, but when it gets this bad, somebody has to put you in your place.
