According to the HBO Making Of... show, the Spartans went through a 2 month (I think) boot camp for physical conditioning. The pic below shows the different layers of special effects. Looks like they were all ripped in real life.

One badaz mother effing movie. Definitely worth my time. And if you didn't enjoy it, there's probably a Drew Barrymore movie playing for your pansy ass.

The reason they were defeated at the end so easily was because the persians had the secret way from the freak dude, and all of the spartans tactical positioning was worthless now.

Actually if you look up the 300 workout they tell you what the actors went through. Gist of the work out is: 4 months of 6 hour days. Mainly doing core things, such as pushups, situps, and pull ups. Crazy

You're missing the point. This was a story about the whole, not the parts. We only know Leonidas because the whole is an extension of him.

I don't know much about this movie, but someone sent this review of it to me, which is definitely worth reading.

this movie is very over the top, in nearly aspect. That being said, the visuals were amazing and the action immense. Definitely worth seeing.

My favorite aspect of the movie is how all the soldiers in the Persian army are basically tomatoes which explode with blood going everywhere with every sword and spear touch. Awesome.

I thought this movie was pretty lame.
