Restealing in MTT's

Hi,

I have played SNG's exclusively for the last five months, and want to start mixing in some MTT's. Read all of the posts in the FAQ (some really impressive stuff, gigabet almost made my brain explode).

It is obvious that MTT's require a much more loose and aggressive game than SNG's. I see that it is more than correct to raise KJs, T9s, and limp with KQs in MTTs. Something I would NEVER do in the early part of a SNG.

I was reviewing a HH posted by Strassa, and this hand came up. Re-stealing appears to be a crucial weapon in MTT's. Could someone explain to me when this play is correct? It just baffles me that we are going to put our tourney life on the line with such a marginal holding.

What range would you push against a standard button raiser in this spot?

Are there any threads that you guys recommend me going over?

One school of thought when it comes to resteals is that make sure if you're going to resteal that if you get called that your cards are live.

If I had a read on the button that would justify a resteal, I'd be more than happy to do it with 9-6 suited.

usually i would wait to the ante stage to re-steal. although this situation looks good.

A) I believe this play is read-dependend
B) Notice Strassa is NOT "putting his tournament life on the line" - he covers BB and button comfortably. The importance of this is not that he'll survive is he loses a confrontation - it is that his opponent wont.
C) Just because Jason Strasse can get away with this doesn't mean it's safe for you to "try at home" [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Caveat: I know Strassa is better than I am.

That said, I don't see the value in restealing against this button steal by a player who will be reduced to less than 15 BBs if he folds. I don't think your fold equity is that good in this situation, so I'm not restealing unless I think there is a good chance that I'm ahead.

You have to realize Button is calling off his entire tournament here if he calls. He made a weak-ish raise from the button into the blinds, this is one of the best times you have for squeezing him and picking up a lot of chips without seeing showdown.

This is a pretty standard push IMO unless you know something about Button, but generally if he's been raising like this in LP when he gets the chance to open, poooosh

Yeah I actually didn't look at Villain's stack I only saw Hero's.

It's a lot closer because he doesn't have many chips behind, I'd still say this is debatable though, it's really depend on how Button has been playing previous.
