Live $500 MTT. Original stacks 5K. Blinds 50/100. I have 4600. There has been a lot of limping, but not much raising. 3rd position limps. I have AJo in 4th position. What do I do?

A case could be made for raising/limping/folding. I have no problem with raising though.

I definitely make that raise to t400 readless, but you seem to have some reads?
Limping behind crossed my mind, but I don't think that is a good idea. This is a raise/fold situation IMO. If I'm gonna fold this, then the limper has to be pretty tight, and also the type who very rarely raises. A description of villain would help a lot. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think raising is bad unless you feel that there is substantial possibility that people will call with a widish range behind. If it's standard sort of online stuff, then raising for position on the flop is fine. I also think raising too see what happens and so you can raise stronger hands in future is worthwhile. I don't think limping behind is that bad either but it makes life hard. |

Seriously, raising is so much better than limping here.
We want to isolate the limper (or possibly just take the blinds + his limp), buy position, and most importantly get a better idea of our opponents range(s). This hand becomes a lot easier to play if we raise. IMO (lacking substantial reads), raising > folding > limping |

I am far from in love with this AJos. I think I would be inclined to make a decent raise to 300-350 and test the water. At this stage you find people willing to call you with suit cons looking for a cheap double up. I would much prefer JQs or 10Js here as it gives you a better idea where you are after the flop.
I would play this cautiously for a raise but drop it if there is much resistance. Ideally what I would be looking for is HU with limper in position to outplay him on a good flop. |

OK, so I raise to 400. CO goes allin for 750. Button thinks for about 30 seconds and flat calls. Limpers also flat calls. Both button and limper have me covered. I started the hand with T4600. What do I do now?

Call, flop top 2 and push is a good strategy here.</font> |
