If you're going to c/r the turn and push the river why not just push the turn? I would pot the flop and push the turn and if he has a Q then so be it.

Fully agree a Q or FH is not folding and nothing else is coming along for the ride unless villain is nuts. No value in betting.

Aren't mediumpairs part of his range? If this guy has JJ, TT or 99 he might think he has the best hand on the flop and is just calling to see what happens on the turn. The problem is that we see this hand to far developing. Anyway you could bet this dry flop or check/raise, if he also checks i would make a bet on the turn. When he calls the large check raise i would give it up on the turn and probably check fold. As played i think you bet a little to less on the flop. And i certainly would have fired on the turn again, because a mediumpair is part of his range. By checking you are inducing an opportunity to bluff with that sort of hand. I never would have checkraised the turn. For one thing your preflop bet is really big (to big in fact) so it looks like AK, mediumpairs will thus come along the ride. If he has AQ he is really stupid i think to call that big preflop raise. But yeah you see some really crazy guys sometimes, but with this entry money? He could be very crazy because why doesnt he shove all-in on the turn???? Is he so scared that you won't come along? As it played out i expect to see pocket jacks-sixes in his hand or aces.

Yeah after I posted I thought medium pairs were part of his bet range 99-JJ the problem is they have made a FH by the river so we are only beating 10-10. I would be very very suprised to see AA. As played I still think I go into check call mode rather than bet again on the turn.

i raised to 120 preflop because, in this tourneys, in 1st level 3 or 4xBB raise isnt respected.

I too put him on pocket pair, thats why i raised the turn,i felt his bet was weak, so i raised to see if he was meaning it. But it wasnt a smart play because if he has a medium pp im scaring it.

I realized i was pot comitted so thats why i pushed river, but i knew i was beat.

yeah, i shouldve bet pot on flop, check call turn, and evaluate river, check folding prolly.

He had AQo obv.

I think checking this flop is good here. So often you are WA/WB and there aren't that many turn cards that really hurt you.

As played, I think you have to check the turn. His flop call on that board is scary.

isnt checking flop a bit weak?

we're giving hands like mid pp's and AK a chance to suck me out for free.
