Re: Why do you think people want to mod?
I've never made a concerted effort to become a mod, but I want to be a mod so I can read the mod forum.
Also, I've learned a lot from and get a lot of enjoyment out of these forums. Helping to maintain them seems only natural to me. |

[ QUOTE ]
need to fill time is big, i'm on 2+2 a lot [/ QUOTE ] That makes sense, especially for pros like Daryn. I mean, if you're gonna be on 2p2 alot reading strat boards, and poker news, being a mod makes sense. Why not you get some perks, and you're gonna be there for your job and livelihood anyway. Personally, I read alot of different forums here, but honestly since I'm not a pro or really involved in the poker world in a meaningful way (nor have a desire to be) - I don't see why someone in my category would really want to be a mod. If anything I'd think people in my category would want to spend a little less time on 2p2 (you know, like doing other stuff) - not more by becoming a Mod. -Al |

Re: Why do you think people want to mod?
everyone talks about power tripping and stuff but i don't even ban a lot of people, nor do i want to, nor do i get any satisfaction from it. i'd rather do nothing, but sometimes things have to be done.

Re: Why do you think people want to mod?
When I used to mod a few forums it was always the fun part and the "doing good" part that mattered most. The power (lol internet power) is just a bonus

Re: Why do you think people want to mod?
I used to mod a fairly large videogame forum and did it at first because I was bored and they asked me, and kept doing it because I enjoyed helping the board. Once the board started dying down, they didn't really need me and I resigned. The mod forum was always fun as [censored], though.

Re: Why do you think people want to mod?
Grunching thread.
The ego thing is so off base. The instant I became a mod, my poster q rating dropped like crazy. Being a mod makes you the trashman, not some high status poster. Most of the time it sucks, because you suddenly become the fun police and have to do unpopular crap. I do it because I do care about this place, and because the forums that I mod(ed) were horrible and I wanted to change that. The biggest positive is just getting to have a voice in the direction of his place, and helping the other mods when they want it. |

Re: Why do you think people want to mod?
I think the only reason I'd want to be a mod is because I spend so much time on 2p2 so this way at least I can justify it. Also reading the mod forum seems like an added bonus but I feel like it's probably not that interesting.
