Default What book should I buy

I picked up NLHETAP the other day and quickly realized I don't have the fundamentals mastered enough to start studying this book yet. I like playing NLHE ring games and was wondering what book you guys would recommend to start with before I try to tackle NLHETAP. I was considering Getting Started in Hold 'em by Ed Miller or No-Limit Texas Hold'em: A Complete Course by Angel Largay.

"Getting Started in Hold'em" is the one you want. It also has a good section on NL play, stressing short stack play (which is simpler than deep stack).

Getting started in Hold'em should serve you well. An even more basic book is Hold'em Poker by Sklansky. I read both when I was first starting.

I really enjoyed "Small Stakes Hold'em," also by Ed Miller for giving me the basics of low limit games. It really has made a huge difference in my home game and at the 1/2 table at the casino.

Small Stakes Hold'em is a great book. It focuses on the limit game though. I thought OP was looking for advice on no-limit.

I am. I just went and picked up GSIH. My reading plan is GSIH, then HOH 1, Little Green Book and last read NLHETAP. Any subtractions or additions anybody would make.

[/ QUOTE ]Good choice! Add HOH 2. If you are going to play only one tournament ever in your life, it's worth the investment.

If you can fit Theory of Poker in there as well, it's very worth it.

I enjoyed Little Blue Book as well. Same stuff as Little Green Book, but a different approach. They complement each other.

I've found much of the book adaptable for small stakes no-limit as well.
