My thinking was that he would not have called my last $80 with a missed draw but a check might induce a bluff. Did I miss a bet? Cutoff did not show. |

the ultimate calling station as you describe him would have called your last 80 if he had any piece of that board, and since he's a calling station, he's very unlikely to bluff, bet the river. Against a tricky lag, you check/call but against a calling station you bet, give him a chance to make his most common mistake.

I bet more on the flop. He's a calling station. He'll call a PSB.
On the river I bet again. He'll call with a lot of hands (by definition). |

Preflop: Good raise, standard.
Flop: This is one of those, do I want him in the hand or out of the hand flops, and since you need to build a roll, i like the small-ish bet, which will get you some action. Turn: Good bet, it's highly unlikely he called you PF with J-10, which, is the only hand we're concerned about on the turn, and when he just calls, I think he's got a king or maybe a flush draw, whatever. River: Nothing has changed now, why are we checking? The river wasn't a scare card, so why would he bluff? He has to put you on AA, KK, QQ, A-K, etc., and most of these retards are passive calling stations. Most people know you're calling $80 if they bet this river with a bluff, because the pot is big enough to justify you calling. Dont get tricky with these donkeys, jose. Play straightforward and get max value from your hands. I'd make a value bet that he has to call with any pair, say, $40. And no, it wasn't scared money because you were calling his last $80 if a nuclear bomb went off, so, bet the river and get paid. Tex |

Pretty much agree with what djoyce said, with the addition that you should've raised a little more on the flop.
So yeah, vs. those ULTIMATE CALLING STATIONs, you need to extract as much money as possible with very strong hands. |

Read: He likes to call. Action: I like to bet.

I agree 100% that I should have value bet this river but...
Although he was the ultimate calling station, he was fairly agressive. He just tended to freeze up & call down big bets with draws & semi weak hands like tpbk. You should have seen him when the river fell. The dealer burned & he sat up real tall in his chair & looked down through his bifocals... When a blank hit he literally sighed & dropped his shoulders. Still a horribe missed bet? |
