Re: Tricky river spot - 25/50 PLO
looks like he was on draw big time, but would he raise preflop with hand like 810qk or something like that? his call of raise on turn makes it look more like drawing hand. i would have probably raised flop, but as played maybe just called turn seen what river is and keep the pot under control as it is the big bet on the river doesnt really seem like it could be bluff, reads on opponent would be useful. most of time i fold

Re: Tricky river spot - 25/50 PLO
Raise the flop and bet the turn. If he is still around when the river hits- you have a tough decision.
I probably wouldn't believe him and would call the river. This could easily be QTxx with 2 hearts, but he could have backdoored a flush or a straight? At this level- a bluff is something that is not soo crazy when a scare card like this hits. If he had the nuts- he may have tried to value bet to entice a call instead of potting it. Folding isn't soo terrible, your not pot committed so its probably the play a lot of tigher players make. If this villian is loose and aggressive you probably make a crying call most of the time. If this guy has been solid and has showed nothing but the the nuts- maybe this is a easier laydown. Maybe if you raise the flop and bet turn you don't have a difficult decision like this? |

Re: Tricky river spot - 25/50 PLO
i like to flip a coin in these kind of decisions when i dont know what to do. However i am slightly less inclined to call when a backdoor flush hits (more so in holdem though) since it is less obvious than the other draws.
If i have some sort of history with villain it is a lot easier to make a decision here. Against unknown i call somtimes , against people that like to fire alot i call most of the time and against nutpeddlers fold always. |

what's the lowest hand he value-bets against you? go from there. if he's a very good player, game theory it up.
