Re: Acoustic singer/songwriter music
Kevin Devine - he's a singer/songwriter living in brooklyn - used to be in an indie band called miracle of 86 and now is on his own.
also, whoever said that fire and wine covered postal service's such great heights - i think you have it backwards. im 95% sure its a fire and wine song that postal service (and many others including ben folds) covered. |

Re: Acoustic singer/songwriter music
Adam Carroll On of the best young songwriters I've heard in a while. The link is to his myspace, check out "The Girl With the Dirty Hair" and "The Last Day of Grace"
Townes Van Zandt Probably the best American songwriter that ever lived. If you don't know who he is, go buy some of his stuff, immedately. [ QUOTE ] Townes Van Zandt's music doesn't jump up and down, wear fancy clothes, or beat around the bush. Whether he was singing a quiet, introspective country-folk song or a driving, hungry blues, Van Zandt's lyrics and melodies were filled with the kind of haunting truth and beauty that you knew instinctively. His music came straight from his soul by way of a kind heart, an honest mind, and a keen ear for the gentle blend of words and melody. He could bring you down to a place so sad that you felt like you were scraping bottom, but just as quickly he could lift your spirits and make you smile at the sparkle of a summer morning or a loved one's eyes -- or raise a chuckle with a quick and funny talking blues. The magic of his songs is that they never leave you alone. [/ QUOTE ] |

who ever asked which iron and wine album to start with... get our endless numbered days first, the in the reins (done with clexico) then get women king, then get the rest [/ QUOTE ] Whoa, you'd recommend someone buy Woman King before The Creek Drank the Cradle? To me, that's like recommending someone buy My Iron Lung before buying OK Computer. |

Re: Acoustic singer/songwriter music
Someone that hasn't been mentioned yet: Ian Moore
He used to be a blues rocker (and he was good at that), but his new stuff is really good acoustic music. You can download some live shows of his at MooreMusic.net. The shows that they have on there are full band shows, but he normally plays with only one other person. |
