$40/$80 big blind special
5 handed tough game. Type of game I like to play sometimes late at night before I'm done for the day where I actually have to think and not just play brainless showdown poker.
Villain in this hand has a reputation as being one of the best shorthanded players in the casino. He is definitely difficult to read, but other than that I don't think he's all that great. He sees me as being very tight and ABC probably but we've never played shorthanded before together until now. Preflop: He open limps in cutoff which is nothing unusual and something I obviously don't like about his game. He pretty much never has a big hand here but it's not complete trash either. Folded to me and I check the 7s4s. Flop: 6s 5s 4c. I check raise and he calls. Turn: Ac. I bet he raises I 3 bet he thinks and calls. River: Ts. I bet he raises I call. |

Re: $40/$80 big blind special
b/c the flush got there on river and the "tough players line is one that could easily have had a flush draw" He 3bets he may get 4 bet and be sick. With the board a good player isn't paying off a 3bet on the river anyways. I like the line and play hand exact same way

Re: $40/$80 big blind special
it could be two pair or some strangely played non-nut straight.... and they're all throwing up and calling the river anyway... hell he could have AA here... if he had spades wouldn't 3betting flop be better than waiting for a turn?
on the other hand he probably puts you on some sort of straight and he's saying he's beating a straight so i can see where the call comes from... |

It's hard for him to put you on a flush, considering how the betting has gone. The 3-bet might be right.

Re: $40/$80 big blind special
In thhe shorthanded games I play on mainly online, when someone has a 2 over flush draw they wait to raise turn with their draw as a strong semi-bluff. The flop 3bet is such a weak play these days, it seems people wait for the time to represent a real hand. Thats why I thought he played it like a flush.
The player was described as being a tough player, and he regarded the hero as ABC player. Therefore, the ABC player 3bet the turn and bet river with a flush on board and 4 cards to a straight. Therefore, I think river 3bet is bad raise |

Re: $40/$80 big blind special
FYI, there's only 3cards to a straight...
i don't know the last few weeks i've seen folks wait for the river to put in the 3rd and 4th bet or 5th/6th bet from the turn on some boards like this with strong but less than nut hands for fear of getting 4/5 bet on the turn... is it impossible for him to play A6/44/AA this way? |

Re: $40/$80 big blind special
Now I feel like an idiot. Disregard all my posts. Im sorry I misread hand and didn't see A hit turn thought it said 3. Also, I did not realize our hero made flush on river. It is an easy river 3bet. Our villian thinks our Hero is ABC, therefore no way he can put him on flush draw by 3betting turn. He easily could make 2 pair on end and I 3bet there.Again sorry for wasting yalls time b/c I was too lazy to read post right the 1st time
