Re: 2 Mexican Thugs Are About to Steal from my Neighbor
[ QUOTE ]
THEY KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE. Last thing you want is a bunch of wacked out latinos coming to hassle you in the middle of the night. [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. Don't [censored] with people you don't know unless you absolutely have to. Gardening gloves, man. Call the cops. |

Re: 2 Mexican Thugs Are About to Steal from my Neighbor
[ QUOTE ]
BTW, there's a good no-limit poker lesson in this as well. It's no-limit because you could lose your life or take another in such situations. 2 Mex Dudes: they bet first attempting to take down a small pot OP: minraises with challenging question 2 Mex Dudes: reraise with another challenging question The important part of this hand, is that the stack sizes (your or their life) is still great compared to the pot, and that the Mex Dudes are keeping the betting initiative and seeing if OP is pot committed but without yet having committed themselves which means they can back off anytime. They put all the committment on OP, and thus play goot. [/ QUOTE ] C'mon dude, I'm all for being able to mention poker in OOT if it's relevant to a story, but poker analogies are always super lame and should be avoided at all costs. |

I yell out, "Hey, WTF you doing?" [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Shant has a baseball bat in the front closet of his house. I could get it in 10 seconds. [/ QUOTE ] You played this backwards. The bat comes first (try to sneak up behind them), then the questions. |

[/ QUOTE ] While I agree in general here in OOT, I think that as poker players, we should be able to apply our poker skills to real life situations such as this if applicable, which as I pointed out it is here. |

Re: 2 Mexican Thugs Are About to Steal from my Neighbor
[ QUOTE ]
I was recently in a similar situation in Santa Monica. Kids spraying graffitti in the parking garage. Got the same response, "What are you gonna do about it". I took out my phone and acted like I called the cops. They left. I went shopping, came back and found the hood of my 4-Runner covered in some liquid that made my paint peel. Mother f-ers. I would still do the same if the situation came up again, paint job be damned. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, you told them you would call the cops to their face and left your car alone, just wow. Come on man you have to be a little smarter than that. The correct move was to not say crap and call the cops when inside the mall. [ QUOTE ] Being an idiot, I yell out, "Hey, WTF you doing?" [/ QUOTE ] Thats the biggest mistake you can make when you see someone doing something illegal. Its like saying, "Hey, how about you beat me up or kill me since I just saw what you were doing." Anyway two things you could do in this spot. 1) Get into a fight with them and beat the crap out of them. or 2) Tell them you will call the cops. Either way if they are violent individuals you can expect retribution regardless of your move. So overall go with whatever you feel confortable with and would you stop saying, "Hey, WTF you doing?" to criminals as they are doing illegal activities. |

Re: 2 Mexican Thugs Are About to Steal from my Neighbor
Call the cops before you yell. Failing that I call the cops immediately and follow them if they run. I don't see why you would get into a fight with these guys seeing as
a. It would be over your neighbors gardening gloves. b. They could easily have knives. c. they probably don't have much to lose if they are stealing gardening gloves. |

Re: 2 Mexican Thugs Are About to Steal from my Neighbor
First get in the car. Then tell them you already called the cops. No reason to get more involved, even if you like fighting.

see, this is another situation where I would probably go with ridicule...in a mocking tone, "who the hell steals a pair of gardening gloves?"
