tipping at pubs
So you go up to the bar, you get a bottle of beer, and the bartender goes through all the effort of taking off the top and handing it to you, do you tip them?
I personally do, but it seems dumb to me. |

deterioration of forum what? [/ QUOTE ] I'm just wondering if people are reading the forum all fidgety waiting weeks (days, hours?) for a tipping post so they can ask their question. |

deterioration of forum what? [/ QUOTE ] OK, my question has been answered. I feel happy that I am correct in tipping even if the bartender doesn't really do anything. Feel free to delete this mods. |

Re: tipping at pubs
Guess this was another error I made when I was in the States, dont think I tipped a bartender once. Certainly wouldnt in the UK although some people will 'buy them a drink'.

Re: tipping at pubs
trust me - as a former drinker -
the tips take care of themselves - shots are poured deeper, and you ask the bartender for the cheapest shot you got left for 2 bucks, and he'll pour another 4.50 one for you on the house if he think's he'll get another buck tip out of it. don't be a stiff - tip. |

Re: tipping at pubs
livin in the UK.
I only tip a barman in the UK if a) they put a shamrock on the top of my pint when I'm doubtful they could b) they make an excellent extra-dry martini (with at least 3 olives). When in the US, we observed the $1/drink custom. |
