Re: Pot control in SnG\'s
From my limited experience, most cash games have standard opening raise of 3-4 BB. When I am in level 1 or 2 of a SnG, I raise higher than that because the lower amounts are ineffective at getting people out of the pot. At later levels, it becomes 2.5-3 BB raise or push.
Its hard to give a clear answer with each hand being different, but I suppose that comes from experience. It seems most posted hands here are in levels after the first two, but early on in the tournament would be where your questions still have hazy answers. |

Re: Pot control in SnG\'s
I'd say that it also depends on whether villain has you covered or not. If he does, pot control becomes more important than if he doesn't.

Re: Pot control in SnG\'s
It's not really an answer to your question, but I tend to play passively postflop at the beginning of a sitngo, and I tend to make smaller bets throughout, both compared to my cash game play. The smaller stacks can create the desire to play for pot control as well as render it irrelevant. And the lose less when you're behind/induce bluffs element early on is pretty key I think.
